Style 2 - Butter which is produced in one-pound prints is packaged in several commercially-available case sizes which range from 12 to 36 pounds per case.
Style 3 - Butter which is produced in 1/4-pound prints is usually packaged in four 1/4-pound prints per carton. The case sizes range from 12 to 36 pounds per case.
Style 4 - Butter which is produced in individual size servings is available in a variety of packaging styles and serving sizes. The serving size, depending on the style requested, may be 47, 60, 72, 90, or 108 servings per pound. The packaging styles fall into four general areas.
a. Prescored slabs - Butter which is packaged in this style is simply a narrow slab of butter which has been prescored to facilitate portion control. The individual servings are broken off from the slab and served.
b. Free standing serving - Butter which is packaged as free standing servings is separated within the carton by a light weight cardboard on one side and a piece of parchment on the other side of the butter serving.
c. Wrapped - Butter is also available in individually wrapped servings. These wrappers completely enclose the butter and may be made of foil, foil-laminate, or paper.
d. Sealed container - Individual servings of butter are also available in sealed containers. These containers are usually a plastic CUP which contains a portion of butter. The top of the cup is sealed to the container.
Contractor’s certification.
By submitting an offer, the contractor certifies that the product offered meets the specific salient characteristics of this CID; conforms to the producer’s own specifications and standards, including product characteristics, manufacturing procedures, quality control procedures, and storage and handling practices; has a national or regional distribution from storage facilities located within the United States, its territories, or possessions; and is sold on the commercial market. The Government reserves the right to determine proof of such conformance prior to first delivery from point of origin and any time thereafter, up to an including delivery at final destination, as may be necessary to determine conformance with the provisions of the contract.
Regulatory requirements.
The delivered product shall comply with the Federal Definition of Butter, Public Law 519 of the 67th Congress as well as all possible Federal and State mandatory requirements and regulations relating to the preparation, packaging, labeling, storage, distribution, and sales of the product in the commercial marketplace. The delivered product shall comply with all applicable provisions of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act and regulations promulgated thereunder.
