COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
EGGNOG MIX, DRY
The U.S. Department of Agriculture has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description as a replacement for Veterans Administration Specification X-1640 /10d.
This Commercial Item Description (CID) covers eggnog mix, dry, packed into commercially acceptable containers, suitable for use by the Federal Government. The product described herein is formulated to be significantly lower in cholesterol than standard eggnog.
Salient Characteristics.
The dry eggnog mix shall be a granular, relatively free-flowing powder of light creamy color, prepared from clean, sound material. The mix shall blend easily with milk and not separate for a period of six (6) hours. Sugar (sucrose) shall not be more than 20 percent of the formulation of the dry mix. When mixed in correct proportions with whole milk, a 240 milliliter (8 fluid ounce) serving of prepared eggnog shall meet the following requirements:

Unless otherwise specified in the solicitation, contract, or purchase order, the dry eggnog mix shall not be more than 45 days old at the time of shipment.
Contractor’s Certification.
By submitting an offer, the contractor certifies that the product offered meets the specified salient characteristics of this CID, conforms to the producer’s own specifications and standards, including product characteristics, manufacturing procedures, quality control procedures, and storage and handling practices; has a national or regional distribution from storage facilities located within the United States, its territories, or possessions; and is sold on the commercial market with commercial sales to the public sector predominating over sales to the Federal Government. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery from point of origin and any time thereafter, up to and including delivery at final destination, as may be necessary to determine conformance with the provisions of the contract.
